Xiaohongshu Mobilizes Full Resources into AI Development to Strengthen Position in Competitive AI-Driven Social Media Landscape

Sina Technology reports that Xiaohongshu is pursuing an aggressive expansion of its AI initiatives, emphasizing the development of AI-powered social products alongside tools designed to enhance community interactions. The platform has shifted its focus from developing backend technical solutions to advancing front-end research, translating innovations into tangible products, and fostering a robust ecosystem around these technologies. Industry sources indicate that Xiaohongshu is offering competitive salaries to attract top AI professionals, particularly those with expertise in creating AI-native products, to drive the independent development of a range of AI-related offerings. According to job platforms, the salary for a position titled “AI Social Product Manager” typically ranges from 30,000 to 60,000 yuan per month across 16 payment periods, with an annual compensation ceiling of up to 960,000 yuan, reflecting the company’s strong commitment to strengthening its leadership in the AI social space.
The key responsibilities of this role involve overseeing the design and development of AI-driven companion products, exploring innovative ways to apply artificial intelligence in areas such as emotional engagement, interest-based matching, and personalized user interactions, with the goal of creating a more intuitive and user-friendly AI experience. Additionally, Xiaohongshu is recruiting a “Comment Interaction AI Product Manager” tasked with integrating advanced AI functionalities into the community platform through features like automated comments, AI-powered character interactions, and smart response systems. This position also comes with an annual salary cap of 960,000 yuan. The simultaneous hiring for these two critical roles underscores Xiaohongshu’s dual-strategy approach to AI development—one focused on enhancing user companionship through intelligent tools and the other aimed at deepening integration within the community ecosystem.
Organizational Changes Accompany Technical Enhancements
Signs of Xiaohongshu’s commitment to AI transformation had already emerged earlier this year. In May, the company released an internal announcement outlining a major organizational overhaul, which included the creation of two new departments at the AI level: Dots and the Enterprise Intelligence Department. This restructuring involved substantial increases in funding allocated to AI initiatives, both in terms of product development technologies and organizational frameworks. Such adjustments signal that AI has been elevated from a supporting function to a core strategic priority, receiving greater emphasis in terms of resource allocation and talent acquisition.
