HomeAnker Recalls Five Power Banks Due to Fire Hazard Concerns
Anker has initiated its second product recall this month, advising customers to immediately stop using five additional power bank models due to potential overheating, melting, smoke, or fire hazards.
"While the probability of a malfunction is low, we are exercising extreme caution and have launched a voluntary global recall for these specific Anker power bank models," the company stated. This mirrors the concerns raised in Anker's earlier recall of the A1263 PowerCore 10000 model sold in the US, where a "potential issue" was identified with lithium-ion batteries from a supplier.
The following products are included in the recall. You can identify them by checking the model number on the back or side of the device:
- Anker Power Bank (models A1257 and A1647)
- Anker MagGo Power Bank (model A1652)
- Anker Zolo Power Bank (models A1681 and A1689)
Affected US customers can choose between a free replacement power bank or an Anker website gift card. To claim either, submit a recall form on Anker's website along with a verified product serial number or proof of purchase.

While the earlier A1263 recall specified purchases made between June 2016 and December 2022, Anker has not provided a similar timeframe for these five newer models. Some were still on sale until recently.
Anker instructs customers to dispose of any recalled power banks at a facility that accepts lithium-ion batteries. Due to fire risk, they must not be placed in regular trash, recycling bins, or retail battery drop-off boxes.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission reported 19 incidents of fires or explosions related to the initial A1263 recall. It is not yet known if similar issues have been reported for the newly recalled models, but the swift, global nature of this action indicates Anker is treating the matter with urgency. The company confirms it has notified global regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with local recall procedures.
