Google AlphaProof Nexus Solves 56-Year-Old Math Puzzle, Redefining Mathematics
The Google DeepMind team recently introduced "AlphaProof Nexus," a new AI framework that combines advanced reasoning with formal verification. This system has achieved a significant breakthrough in mathematical research, solving two Erdős problems that had gone unsolved for 56 years.

Four-Level Agent Architecture Drives Collaborative Breakthroughs
AlphaProof Nexus uses an innovative design built from four AI agents of increasing complexity. Starting with the base Gemini model interacting with the Lean compiler, it gradually adds code completion snippets and evolution mechanisms similar to AlphaEvolve, culminating in a top-level agent that shares, rates, and sorts multiple proof drafts.
In autonomous tests on 353 open Erdős problems, the system solved nine and also proved 44 open conjectures from the Online Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences. Remarkably, AlphaProof Nexus can reason through a single complex problem for just a few hundred dollars.
Compiler Feedback Anchoring Powers AI Evolution
Beyond its achievements in combinatorics and number theory, the system solved a Hilbert function problem that had remained open for 15 years and improved known bounds in convex optimization. Analyzing the experimental data, the research team found that even the simplest base agent could solve certain problems thanks to the "anchoring" effect of strong feedback from the Lean compiler.
