Amazon has officially made two OpenAI cybersecurity models, Daybreak Red and Daybreak Blue, available to eligible Amazon Bedrock users. This release strengthens the strategic partnership between the two companies and expands Amazon’s cloud AI service offerings.
Both models are key components of OpenAI’s Daybreak network defense initiative. Daybreak Red provides access to GPT-5.6Cyber, while Daybreak Blue features advanced general models like GPT-5.6Sol, optimized for defensive cybersecurity tasks. This follows the July release of other OpenAI models, including GPT-5.6Sol, Terra, and Luna, on Amazon Bedrock.
In February, Amazon and OpenAI launched a multi-year strategic partnership with an investment commitment of up to $50 billion. Amazon has fulfilled its contributions for the first and second quarters, completing the full allocation by the end of June. The company now holds approximately 5% of OpenAI.
Alongside its increased investment in OpenAI, Amazon is pursuing a broad AI strategy. By deepening ties with OpenAI and expanding its collaboration with Anthropic, Amazon is diversifying its model distribution channels and advancing its own technology. This approach reduces reliance on single suppliers and accelerates the growth of AWS cloud services.
