Kuaishou Launches First Creator Recruitment to Enter AI Interactive Content Market

Following TikTok's internal tests of the "AI Interactive Space," Kuaishou has officially launched an "AI Interactive Content" creation feature, now available to an initial group of collaborating creators. This signals the expansion of competition among short video platforms from traditional content duration into interactive experiences.
According to Dujia, Kuaishou is seeking creators with a background or interest in AI interactive narratives, AI character dialogues, and interactive lightweight apps, who can consistently produce new content. Selected creators will receive early access to creation tools, work directly with the platform team to refine the product, and benefit from an AI interactive content co-creation plan.
AI interactive content, powered by large models, lets users actively shape the narrative through text input or choices, breaking away from the traditional one-way consumption of short videos. The main forms currently include three categories: AI character dialogues that offer virtual companionship and role-playing; branching interactive plots where user decisions unlock multiple endings; and AI interactive lightweight apps that combine scenario-based experiences with engaging tasks. Compared to standard videos, this format's high replay value can significantly increase user time spent on the platform.
Industry analysts view Kuaishou's move as a critical step in the increasingly saturated short video market. With total user time online already plateauing, the potential for growth in average user time via short videos and live streams is diminishing. AI interactive content introduces a new category of "playable content" within the platform, shifting the experience from "watching videos" to "playing content." This can capture users' fragmented time, boost retention, and generate interaction data that helps refine recommendation algorithms. Moreover, it represents a natural extension of Kuaishou's multimodal capabilities, built around its Qilin AI.
That said, this field is still nascent, with challenges like unnatural AI dialogue, formulaic plots, and underdeveloped user habits. As major platforms enter the fray, time will tell whether AI interactive content can truly reshape the short video landscape.
