Google Gemini App's monthly active users double year-over-year to 900M, targeting 2.5B global users
Consumer AI applications are seeing explosive growth globally. On June 3 local time, Google parent company Alphabet released its latest investor presentation, revealing impressive performance data. The Gemini App , one of Google's fastest-growing flagship products, has officially surpassed 900 million monthly active users—doubling in just one year.
This rapid growth is fueled by Google's massive native ecosystem. Gemini's core capabilities are now fully integrated into 13 super apps with over a billion users each within Google's portfolio. Among them are five industry-leading products with user bases exceeding 3 billion: Google Search, Gmail, Android, Chrome, and YouTube. By embedding AI deeply into established infrastructure, Google has built strong user stickiness worldwide.

Beyond the standalone app, Google's AI transformation in search has also delivered strong results. The presentation shows that the newly integrated AI Overviews (AI Overview) feature in Google Search has already exceeded 2.5 billion monthly active users. Google emphasized that this means its search service is making AI accessible to more people globally, and the adoption speed and coverage of this feature have outpaced any comparable AI product in the world.
As user numbers surge, optimizing compute costs has become another key factor in strengthening Google's moat. Since launching the Gemini 3 architecture, Google has reduced the compute cost of core AI responses by over 30% through breakthroughs in both underlying hardware development and engineering. This combination of high-density intelligence and low-cost operations provides ample confidence for future technology iterations.
Looking ahead, Google laid out a clear roadmap in the presentation. After releasing the Gemini 3.5 Flash model—which outperformed the 3.1 Pro on multiple benchmarks at the recent 2026 Google I/O developer conference—Google is expected to officially launch an even more powerful Gemini 3.5 Pro large model this month. With core models continuously evolving, the global large model market is poised for another round of reshuffling.
