Kimi K2.5 proved capable of replacing the previously expensive closed-source models used for programming and Agent-related tasks, thanks to its massive 256k context window, strong ability to process visual inputs, and consistent performance across multiple tool calls.

Cloudflare’s engineers routinely use Kimi K2.5 as the primary engine in their daily development work. One practical example involves an AI agent designed to scan code repositories for security flaws, which handles over 7 billion tokens each day. Using the original closed-source model would have required an annual maintenance cost of around $2.4 million just for this single application.
After switching to Kimi K2.5, inference costs dropped by 77%, slashing the substantial financial burden to a much smaller amount. What’s even more impressive is that this significant cost reduction did not affect the model’s accuracy — it was able to detect 15 confirmed security vulnerabilities in a single repository at once.
