Tesla Grok Now Covers All of Europe, Expands to More Asian Countries with Voice-Controlled AC and Glove Box
Tesla announced that its Grok AI assistant, powered by xAI, is set to expand across Europe and into several Asian markets, including India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. The rollout will coincide with the summer 2026 software update. This update also introduces vehicle control capabilities to Grok, enabling drivers to make calls, manage music, adjust climate settings, and even open the glove box using only voice commands.
From Chatbot to Vehicle Manager
Grok was first introduced on Tesla vehicles last summer, initially available only in the United States. It began as a chatbot, answering general knowledge queries and engaging in storytelling. Tesla later expanded its capabilities, adding natural language navigation and location-based reminders. The summer 2026 update goes a step further, allowing Grok to directly control vehicle hardware. Owners can activate it by saying "Hey Grok" and then perform tasks like making phone calls, searching for and playing music, adjusting the air conditioning, and even controlling seat ventilation and heating via voice commands.
Future Integration with FSD: Musk Says Voice-Controlled Driving Arrives This Autumn
Earlier this year, Musk confirmed that the integration of Grok with FSD is already in development. Tesla aims to transform Grok into a true "virtual driver" that can understand natural language commands, such as parking the car by the roadside or automatically changing lanes. Last month, Musk stated that the FSD voice control feature for Grok could be released as early as this autumn, with a possible timeline of about three more months. As Grok takes on more vehicle functions, drivers may no longer need to touch the central display, handling most operations through voice commands alone.
