TCL's latest QM9K series QD-Mini LED TVs are now available for purchase. As reported by 9to5Google, they feature the Google TV platform, are the first models to integrate Gemini AI, and include a built-in mmWave presence sensor. Pricing begins at $2,999 for the 65-inch variant at Best Buy, with costs increasing for larger screen sizes up to 98 inches.
According to the Best Buy product description, the integrated mmWave sensor allows the TV to power on or off automatically as you approach or leave. It can also display a screensaver or relevant widgets based on your proximity. While Samsung's The Frame TVs and some appliances offer similar motion-detection features, the specific technology behind their sensors has not been disclosed.
TCL states that with Gemini AI built-in, the QM9K series can comprehend natural conversational queries and handle contextual follow-up questions. These are the first TVs to launch with Gemini, though the AI assistant is scheduled to expand to other TCL 2025 models, select Hisense TVs, the Google TV Streamer, and the Walmart Onn 4K Pro.
