Layoffs keep hitting the global tech sector. Cybersecurity firm SentinelOne released its latest quarterly results today and also revealed a workforce reduction plan. To boost efficiency and shift toward more profitable areas, the company will cut roughly 8% of its staff.
About 230 employees will be affected, some of them based in Israel. The company expects to take a one-time charge of around $25 million related to severance and stock compensation.
Shifting Focus to High-Margin AI Operations
The CEO explained that the core goal of this restructuring is to refocus the business. Moving forward, the company will prioritize AI-powered cybersecurity. As a product company focused on AI threat detection, its main development direction will be leveraging new technologies for security response and remediation.
In its latest financial report, revenue rose 21% year over year to $277 million, but the company still posted an operating loss of $79 million. By cutting labor costs and funneling resources into high-return AI ventures, SentinelOne aims to turn the loss around quickly.
Tech Industry Layoffs Show No Signs of Slowing
SentinelOne's cuts are hardly unique. Since early 2026, tech companies worldwide have been streamlining operations. Major players like Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta have all conducted large-scale layoffs to better align costs with revenue.
