Oura Unveils AI Model Dedicated to Women's Health

Oura announced on Tuesday the launch of its first proprietary AI model, powering its Oura Advisor chatbot to provide personalized insights for women's health. The company states this model can address questions across the entire reproductive health spectrum, from early menstrual cycles to menopause.

The new model is being released in Oura Labs, the company's opt-in experimental feature hub within the Oura app.

According to Oura, the model is built on established medical standards, research, and knowledge sources vetted by its in-house team of board-certified clinicians and women's health experts. It also incorporates users' biometric signals and long-term trends to deliver tailored guidance.

As more people turn to AI chatbots for health advice—from menstrual cycle changes to perimenopause symptoms—Oura emphasizes the need for models specifically designed for women's health.

"This custom model represents a fundamental shift in how we responsibly deploy AI in healthcare to meet our members' needs," said Dr. Ricky Bloomfield, Oura's Chief Medical Officer, in a statement. "Women's health is too complex—and too often overlooked—for one-size-fits-all systems. By designing a model specifically for women, grounded in trusted clinical science and real-world biometric data, we're setting a new standard for responsible intelligence. This approach combines rigorous science with the unique, longitudinal data that makes Oura so powerful, and we plan to expand it to more health areas."

The launch of this women's health AI model follows comments from Oura Chief Commercial Officer Dorothy Kilroy to TechCrunch last October, who noted the company's fastest-growing user segment is women in their early twenties, not fitness enthusiasts.

When a user asks Oura Advisor a women's health question, the chatbot activates this new model. It references its specialized knowledge base while simultaneously analyzing the user's relevant biometric data across sleep, activity, menstrual cycle, pregnancy, stress levels, and more.
