OpenAI Unveils Workspace Agents for Continuous Office Operations
OpenAI has officially launched Workspace Agents , a feature designed for team collaboration. This new functionality handles complex, long-term workflows, transforming AI from a simple conversational assistant into a virtual employee capable of autonomous task execution.
These agents operate in the cloud and are available 24/7. Even when team members are offline, they can continue to advance projects. Whether it's writing reports, reviewing code, or responding to messages, agents collaborate seamlessly across time zones and tools.

Moving Beyond Q&A for Deep Collaboration
Unlike traditional AI, Workspace Agents can process files, run code, and retain memory. This means they not only answer questions but also continuously improve based on past interactions, even automating tasks like submitting tickets in office software such as Slack.
Within OpenAI, the sales team uses agents to automatically organize call records and screen potential customers. The accounting team has employed this tool to shorten the previously tedious month-end closing process to just minutes, significantly boosting operational efficiency.

Graduated Billing After Research Preview
This feature is currently available in a research preview for ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, and Education edition users. Eligible users can experience this cutting-edge automated collaboration technology for free until May 6, 2026.
