Last summer, we unveiled NotebookLM, an AI-powered tool designed to assist with research and writing. We're thrilled to announce that we're rolling out an enhanced version of NotebookLM, now powered by Gemini 1.5 Pro, to more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.
From the outset, our vision for NotebookLM was to develop a platform that would help users delve into complex materials, forge new connections from existing data, and streamline the process of drafting. By uploading your sources—be it research notes, interview transcripts, or corporate documents—NotebookLM instantly becomes an expert in the content that's most relevant to you. Our latest upgrade introduces a host of new features:
- NotebookLM now accepts Google Slides and web URLs as sources, in addition to Google Docs, PDFs, and text files.
- With inline citations, you can now jump directly to relevant passages in your sources to verify AI responses or explore the original text further.
- The new Notebook guide feature transforms your sources into practical formats like FAQs, Briefing Docs, or Study Guides, providing a comprehensive overview.
Thanks to Gemini 1.5 Pro's inherent multimodal capabilities, you can now pose questions about images, charts, and diagrams within your sources. NotebookLM will also reference images in citations when they're relevant to the response.
