Meta's AI Video Tool Virtually Transports You to Desert Scenery in Latest Demo
Meta introduces groundbreaking AI video editing capabilities that empower users to dramatically transform their clips. Currently available as a limited-time free offering, this innovative tool provides more than 50 preset editing options that can alter visuals, environments, and even outfits with artificial intelligence.
The preset selection mirrors Instagram's filter interface, making it instantly familiar to social media users. Transform footage into video game graphics or anime style shots, relocate scenes to exotic desert landscapes, or instantly swap casual wear for formal AI-generated attire – though note edits are currently limited to the first 10 seconds of footage. This feature is launching across Meta platforms including the Meta AI mobile application, Meta.AI web portal, and dedicated Edits app, initially available in the United States and multiple international markets.

Early testing reveals the technology still has room for improvement compared to Meta's promotional examples. When processing footage of backyard dogs digging, the AI successfully altered terrain to desert-like conditions with orange soil and oddly-colored cacti, but inexplicably added an unnatural glow effect to the pets. Similar quirks appeared when attempting anime transformations – the facial modifications resulted in dramatically exaggerated pink eye and lip coloration rather than authentic anime styling.

Completed edits can be shared directly across Meta's social platforms or featured in the Meta AI app's discovery feed. While currently limited to preset configurations, Meta confirms plans to introduce custom text-based editing capabilities later this year, promising even greater creative control over video transformations.
