Google is introducing a set of new capabilities for Gemini Live, its conversational AI assistant. Starting next week, Gemini Live will gain the ability to highlight objects directly on your screen while using your camera feed, enabling the assistant to visually indicate specific items with greater precision.
For instance, if you need to locate a particular tool among many, simply point your phone’s camera at the assortment, and Gemini Live will outline the correct one on the display. This visual guidance will debut on the newly announced Pixel 10 devices when they launch on August 28th. Google will then extend the feature to other Android phones at the same time, with iOS support following in the coming weeks.

Lastly, Google is releasing an improved audio model for Gemini Live that significantly enhances the chatbot's use of natural speech elements such as intonation, rhythm, and pacing. Users will also gain control over Gemini’s speech rate, a feature reminiscent of ChatGPT’s customizable voice styles. Additionally, when asked to deliver a dramatic retelling of a story from a character's or historical figure's perspective, Gemini may incorporate accents to create a more vivid and immersive narrative experience.
