On May 12, Google officially launched a new Android feature called "Create My Widget " (Create My Widget), enabling users to build personalized widgets using natural language commands (Vibe Code). As a key part of the Gemini Intelligence ecosystem, the feature will roll out first on the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel series this summer, marking a significant shift of generative AI from conversational interfaces to system-level customization.
Technically, "Create My Widget" goes beyond pre-built components. Users simply input their needs to generate a dashboard capable of real-time data fetching and logic processing. By leveraging Gemini 's cross-app integration, the feature can access private data from Gmail and Calendar , combining it with online sources to create a unified information hub. For example, users can build a travel management widget that pulls together flight updates, hotel bookings, and countdown timers, or a weather monitor tailored to their personal fitness preferences.
Beyond widget customization, Google also announced several native AI upgrades, including advanced auto-fill and AI voice transcription in Gboard . Ben Greenwood, product lead for Android core experiences, noted that this trend aims to transform AI assistants from passive Q&A to proactive service delivery. Industry analysts believe that by turning complex code logic into natural language interactions, Google is lowering the barrier for users to customize their systems. This not only strengthens Android's competitive edge but also signals that mobile operating systems are entering an era of "personalized customization" centered on personal data and deep integration with generative AI.
