Following the Gemini 3.1 Pro release in February 2026, this lightweight upgrade is projected to deliver performance on par with OpenAI's recent GPT-5.5. The update will prioritize optimization for edge devices and improved context management, bringing seamless AI features to mid- and low-range Android hardware. The conference may also see the debut of a new intelligent platform, "Gemini Spark," designed for proactive operation and cross-application task handling.
On the hardware and ecosystem front, Google is working with Samsung and Gentle Monster to develop screenless AI glasses and models featuring in-lens display technology, all built on the Android XR platform. Concurrently, the Android 17 Beta may unlock Gemini Nano's on-device AI capabilities, while a new lightweight system, Aluminum OS, could be unveiled to merge the Android and Chrome OS ecosystems.
