Google's annual I/O developer conference is just around the corner, with the spotlight firmly on its opening keynote. However, unlike previous years, we don't anticipate major Android OS revelations since Google unveiled those updates last week.
This year's keynote will primarily focus on AI advancements, though Google has confirmed some extended reality (XR) updates will also make the cut.
Google I/O schedule and viewing options
The two-day event runs May 20th-21st, with the main keynote starting at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on May 20th. Viewers can stream it live via Google's official I/O website or YouTube channel—we've conveniently included the livestream above, including an ASL-interpreted version.
Plan accordingly: I/O keynotes typically span two hours, and while Android updates won't dominate, we expect similar runtime this year.

As noted by my colleague Allison Johnson, Google's AI-focused agenda shouldn't surprise anyone. For two consecutive years, Gemini and related technologies have stolen the show, reflecting Google's intense competition with OpenAI, Meta, and Microsoft. Interestingly, I/O begins just one day after Microsoft's Build event, setting the stage for fascinating industry comparisons.
