Google Gemini Expands to Generate 3D Models and Physical Simulations
Google recently rolled out a major update to its AI assistant Gemini . Now, when users ask questions about spatial structures or physical laws, Gemini not only responds with text and images but can also directly generate interactive 3D models and dynamic simulations that can be rotated and scaled.
With this new feature, users can grasp complex concepts through intuitive visualizations. For instance, they can ask Gemini to show "the moon's orbit around Earth" or "a double pendulum system." The system then generates a 3D scene, allowing users to adjust variables—such as motion speed or gravity parameters—via sliders and observe real-time changes in the physical process.

3D Interaction and Parameter Control
Unlike previous flat interactions, this upgrade provides a more immersive experience:
Multi-dimensional Rotation: Enables 360-degree viewing of 3D model details with no blind spots.
Real-time Variables: Users can manually adjust simulation parameters using switches or sliders to explore physical outcomes under various conditions.
Intuitive Presentation: Complex concepts, like the Doppler effect, are presented intuitively through dynamic 3D waveforms, significantly lowering the learning curve.
Currently, all Gemini Pro users can try this feature. Simply click the "Show me the visualization" button at the bottom of the interface after asking a question to activate it. This update also signals a new phase in the competition between Google, Anthropic, and OpenAI in the "visualized answers" space, as AI moves from pure text interaction toward multimodal, highly interactive spatial intelligence.

I was totally shocked when I tried it out—asking about gravity’s effect on a falling object and getting an instant animated 3D simulation right in the chat. It’s like having a personal physics tutor in my pocket, but I wonder if companies will start using this to create overly realistic fake products to trick customers. 😅
Wait, so Gemini can now generate 3D models and physics simulations just from a question? That's either incredibly useful for prototyping or a terrifying step toward AI-generated virtual worlds that we can't tell apart from reality. I'm curious how accurate the physics are – will it simulate gravity wrong and cause bizarre floating objects? Also, does this mean I can finally ask it to design a better mousetrap and get a working 3D print? 🤔
