GitHub Copilot Integrates GPT-5.4 in Hours

GitHub Copilot has once again proven its rapid response capabilities. Mere hours after OpenAI launched its newest flagship model, GPT-5.4, GitHub announced full integration, providing developers worldwide with intelligent coding assistance powered by this advanced technology.
According to GitHub, internal testing indicates that GPT-5.4 excels in "agentic" software development tasks, showing a marked increase in task success rates compared to its predecessor. Beyond the code generation expertise of the Codex lineage, the model demonstrates enhanced stability in complex, multi-step logical reasoning.
Key enhancements of GPT-5.4 in Copilot include:
Multi-step Task Execution: The model exhibits stricter logic and higher accuracy when managing workflows that require multiple tool calls or complex processes.
Deep Web Retrieval: Improved real-time information access allows for more precise solutions to programming challenges involving the latest technical documentation.
Computer Operation Optimization: It operates with greater efficiency on low-level tasks, such as automated environment setup and file management.
GPT-5.4 is now accessible to all Copilot subscribers, including Pro, Business, and Enterprise tiers. Users can access the model in chat, edit, and agent modes by updating Visual Studio Code to v1.104.1+ or Visual Studio to 17.14.19+. Support has also been integrated into popular IDEs like JetBrains, Xcode, and Eclipse.
Enterprise administrators must manually enable the GPT-5.4 usage policy in the Copilot management console to grant team members access to these features.
