Google has officially rebranded its long-standing health management app, Fitbit, as Google Health . With the launch of new smart hardware, the classic app has undergone a complete redesign. However, this major AI-driven overhaul has left many existing users feeling confused and frustrated.
Many users who were accustomed to the original interface have taken to social platforms to express their dissatisfaction, criticizing the new version for severely limiting user control. Some have even publicly called on Google to revert to the old version.
Home Screen Overrun with Chat Boxes Frustrates Users
In the new app interface, the once-popular customizable card feature—which used to display health data intuitively—has been significantly scaled back. It has been replaced by a persistent AI health coach module at the top. When users open the app, they are now greeted not by clear step counts, but by AI greetings and interaction suggestions.
This radical change has upset many users who simply want to track their data. One user openly complained that the new design looks childish, as if it were created by an eight-year-old. Additionally, because large areas of the screen are taken up by AI chat boxes, users cannot see their full health data on the home screen.
AI Features Draw Mixed Reactions, Still Under Scrutiny
While social media is full of criticism of the new interface, some tech-savvy users have given positive feedback on the AI features. Some reported that by interacting with the built-in AI coach, they could more intelligently fill in missing sleep logs due to missed entries—a far more convenient process than the previous tedious manual input.
