HomeDeepSeek API Expands to Million-Token Context
DeepSeek has officially confirmed that its API now supports the same 1 million token context window as its app and web versions — a notable step forward. Previously limited to 128k tokens, this upgrade allows users to maintain longer, more coherent conversations with richer context throughout interactions.
The platform's knowledge base has also been refreshed, now extending to May 2025. This means users can access up-to-date information through April 2025 even without an active internet connection. The update reflects DeepSeek's growing capacity for timely information handling and its commitment to delivering a more responsive user experience.
It's worth noting that DeepSeek remains a non-multimodal model for now, handling text and voice input but not visual data. Users should keep this limitation in mind and choose the input method that best fits their needs.
Founder Liang Wenfeng has previously indicated that the next-generation flagship model, DeepSeek V4, is expected to launch around the end of April. With continuous updates in technology, DeepSeek's capabilities keep expanding — including the recently introduced expert mode designed for tackling complex questions, further broadening its range of applications.
