China Debuts First Integrated Water-Wind-Solar Smart Operation Model

China's first integrated smart operation model for water, wind, and solar resources was officially launched in the Yalong River Basin in Sichuan. Introduced by the Yangtze River Company of Guotou Group, this technological innovation represents another significant milestone in China's intelligent management of clean energy.
The core technology of this model integrates predictions of meteorological, hydrological, wind, and solar resources, along with power operation decisions, to form a comprehensive intelligent system that acts as the "smart brain" for a large-scale clean energy base of tens of thousands of kilowatts. Compared to traditional energy management approaches, this system stands out with its powerful data integration capabilities, combining multi-source data from satellite remote sensing, ground meteorological monitoring stations, river basin hydrological measurement stations, and sensor devices at new energy stations. This creates an intelligent forecasting system that covers the entire river basin and all resource elements.
After training on massive real-world data and undergoing specialized optimization for complex high-altitude conditions, the model's forecasting capabilities have improved significantly. Professor De-Liang Chen, an external member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a climatologist, noted that traditional river flow forecasts could only accurately predict about ten days in advance, while the new model extends the forecast range to 60 days. The hourly forecast accuracy for the first 10 days has increased by approximately 5%. In addition, the accuracy of medium- to long-term forecasts (11 to 60 days) has also improved on average. The response speed of meteorological forecasting has been upgraded from hours to minutes, greatly enhancing work efficiency.
This breakthrough not only provides a more scientific foundation for clean energy management but also helps China achieve more efficient and sustainable development in the renewable energy sector. As technology continues to advance, future energy management will become increasingly intelligent, driving strong momentum toward the goal of green development.
