Anthropic Reports Record Annual Revenue, Exceeding $65 Billion and Outpacing OpenAI in Growth Pace
Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic is not only generating substantial revenue at a rapid pace but also showing continued strong growth. Per reports from Bloomberg, as of the end of July this year, the company’s annualized revenue run rate had surpassed 65 billion dollars, up significantly from 47 billion dollars in May and just 9 billion dollars at the end of last year.
The Growth Myth and Sky-High IPO
According to The Financial Times, investors anticipate that Anthropic will sustain a similar growth trajectory through the remainder of the year, with projections suggesting its annual revenue could reach between 100 billion and 120 billion dollars by 2026. For comparison, OpenAI’s revenue doubled from 20 billion dollars at the end of 2025 to 40 billion dollars, yet Anthropic’s more pronounced growth rate has drawn significantly more attention from investors.
Both companies have filed IPO applications confidentially, and the market generally believes Anthropic will go public before OpenAI this fall. Reports indicate that the company is targeting a valuation of at least 2 trillion dollars for its IPO, which would make it the largest initial public offering in history. Just in mid-May, Anthropic completed a 6.5 billion dollar funding round at a valuation of 96.5 billion dollars.
