Anthropic officially launches the new Claude Mythos series Fable5 model

Anthropic, the artificial intelligence firm behind Claude, officially released its latest Fable5 model from the Claude Mythos lineup on Tuesday. This marks the first public debut of this advanced model family, which was previously restricted to internal testing with select partners due to stringent cybersecurity protocols.
To balance innovation with safety, the new model employs a tiered filtering system. When users ask questions involving sensitive domains like cybersecurity, biology, or chemistry, the system automatically routes these queries to lower-tier models with restricted capabilities.
Project Glasswing: A Public-Private Partnership
Alongside the public release, Anthropic granted unrestricted access to high-tier versions for participating companies and cybersecurity partners in Project Glasswing. This global initiative now encompasses roughly 200 organizations spanning over 15 countries.
The U.S. government has also played a key role in the model’s security assessment. Recognizing the Mythos model’s ability to detect critical infrastructure vulnerabilities, the White House has instituted a routine review process for top-tier AI models prior to public release.
Rising Costs and Fierce Market Rivalry
As one of the most sophisticated AI systems available, Fable5’s pricing is double that of previous versions, highlighting the significant financial burden on the company. To secure adequate computing power, Anthropic currently pays substantial data center rental fees to Elon Musk’s xAI on a monthly basis.
Amidst intensifying market competition, both Anthropic and its primary rival, OpenAI, have recently filed for initial public offerings (IPOs). This surge in AI-driven capital is elevating tech industry competition to unprecedented levels.
