Alibaba Cloud's Bailing has officially launched HappyOyster 1.0 (Happy Oyster 1.0), an open-world model that enables real-time construction, exploration, and interactive generation of AI-powered digital worlds. The model is available with SDKs for Android, iOS, and Web, and is currently undergoing phased testing on Alibaba Cloud Bailing.
Unlike traditional text-to-video models that generate content in a single direction, HappyOyster 1.0 is trained to learn world state transition rules—mapping from current state/action to next state/action. By analyzing vast amounts of natural video, it understands how people, objects, and environments evolve. The model can simulate action feedback loops and maintain long-term consistency of characters, scenes, and audio-visual elements within the digital world.
The model features two modes: World Exploration (Adventure) and Real-Time Directing (Directing). In World Exploration mode, users can input text or upload images to create an interactive digital world. They can influence scene progression through actions like moving, jumping, attacking, and driving vehicles. The mode supports continuous real-time movement and camera control for up to one minute, and the generated content can be exported as a video.
In Real-Time Directing mode, users can pause and rewind the story at any moment and change the narrative direction using new prompts. This mode can generate real-time video exceeding three minutes at 480p or 720p resolution, and supports exporting the video.
Alibaba Cloud says HappyOyster 1.0 represents an exploration into next-generation multimodal interactive content. It can be used in open-world game prototypes, interactive short dramas, virtual companions, and immersive cultural tourism experiences. Developers can leverage the Open API to manage world states, and the client SDK for real-time communication, video rendering, and interaction control, enabling rapid creation of playable AI world applications.
Industry experts view world models as an emerging direction for generative AI, with core capabilities shifting from 'content generation' to 'understanding and simulating the world.' The launch of HappyOyster 1.0 marks the beginning of domestic companies exploring new pathways for real-time interactive AI environment construction.
