Xiaomi humanoid robot debuts at investor day, factory-tested with over 90% success rate on complex installations
On April 27, Xiaomi quietly unveiled its new full-size humanoid robot, developed over four years, marking a leap from lab-based embodied intelligence demonstrations to real-world factory use. After releasing the quadruped robot "Tie Dan" in 2021 and the humanoid "Tie Da" in 2022, Xiaomi maintained a low profile in robotics R&D for four years. This time, instead of a formal press conference, the company made its return through demanding dexterous interactions, like handing out souvenirs on site and greeting attendees.

Technically, the new robot showed strong perception and execution, accurately identifying and grasping small objects such as paper bag handles. In Xiaomi's car factory, it has operated autonomously for three continuous hours and achieved over 90% success in assembling complex parts. This performance rivals or even exceeds that of some industrial robotic arms, confirming the productivity potential of general-purpose humanoid robots in flexible manufacturing. Xiaomi's full-stack in-house development of body design and intelligent algorithms gives it an edge in operational efficiency under complex conditions compared to specialized robotics firms.
According to Xiaomi's strategic plan, the humanoid robot is expected to see wide deployment in factories within the next five years, and gradually enter office and home settings within five to ten years. As a key physical component of the "people-vehicle-home ecosystem" strategy, Xiaomi's technological advances not only provide embodied intelligence for its smart manufacturing but also lay the engineering groundwork for future household service robots to reach mass adoption.
