Volkswagen Unveils Global Intelligent Agent Roadmap, Ushering in AI-Defined Automotive Era
On the night before the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, Volkswagen Group made waves at the "Media Night" event by revealing its comprehensive AI roadmap for intelligent agents. This strategic move signals that the traditional automaker is rapidly moving beyond its conventional image and stepping into a new era defined by "AI-driven cars."
According to the disclosed plan, Volkswagen will start equipping new models based on the group’s CEA architecture with intelligent agent AI beginning in 2026. Then, in 2027, the next-generation CEA 2.0 architecture will debut, offering an integrated "driving and cabin" experience and covering all powertrain types across the brand’s lineup.
For deep technical R&D collaboration, Volkswagen has chosen Horizon as a core partner. At the event, both sides showcased their latest achievements in intelligent transformation: through the powerful combination of the CEA architecture and Horizon Journey 6 series chips, a more competitive high-end intelligent driving solution is emerging. Additionally, the upgraded AI development tool Gaia 2.0 will be deployed, aiming to significantly boost software development and iteration efficiency.
Volkswagen Group said it will further embed itself into China’s local innovation ecosystem to continuously advance intelligent connected mobility technology. This deep "localization" strategy is clearly intended to create a more future-ready mobility experience for global consumers in an increasingly competitive smart technology landscape.
