Tesla Infotainment System Gets Smart Brain with Doubao Large Model Integration
Tesla owners in China are about to see a major upgrade in their intelligent mobility experience. At the 2026 Volcano Engine Original Power Conference, Tesla China confirmed that its in-vehicle interaction system will deeply integrate with the Dou Bao Large Model and related technical solutions through OTA updates.
With this strategic partnership, Tesla's voice assistant will move beyond traditional command-based interactions, becoming smarter and capable of comprehensive vehicle control. According to internal testing, future domestic owners can activate the upgraded assistant by pressing the steering wheel voice button or saying "Hey, Tesla." The assistant uses a division of labor and collaboration architecture: Dou Bao AI handles hardware commands like air conditioning, windows, and navigation; while DeepSeek manages complex conversations and Q&A, offering an in-depth interactive experience similar to Grok and even helping users understand FSD function commands.

This update is more than just a collection of new features—it reflects Tesla's deepening localization strategy. Earlier voice assistants in vehicle infotainment were often limited to preset command libraries, resulting in mechanical responses. With the Dou Bao Large Model integrated, Tesla's infotainment system now has advanced comprehension capabilities, delivering more direct and efficient feedback tailored to owners' needs, significantly enhancing the immersive human-vehicle dialogue experience.
Currently, some internal testing software versions already include an entry point for the Dou Bao AI assistant, signaling that this feature is nearing widespread release. As a key component of Tesla's voice ecosystem, integrating mainstream domestic large models not only brings more localized interaction services for Chinese Tesla owners but also marks the accelerating penetration of AI large models from smartphones and computers into the core computing environment of smart cars. For domestic users, this means their future drives will be accompanied by a more locally attuned and responsive "digital co-pilot."
