Tesla completes filing for in-car voice AI model in Shanghai
Tesla continues to advance its AI localization efforts. On April 21, the Shanghai Cyberspace Administration announced that the "Tesla In-Car Voice Large Model Service" filed by Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. received official approval for generative AI service filing on April 20.
This development signals a major upgrade for Tesla's smart cockpit experience in the Chinese market. So far, 158 generative AI services have completed filing in Shanghai. As a key foreign-invested enterprise, Tesla's large model service has consistently drawn industry attention.

Accelerating Smart Transformation via Integrated Hardware and Software
This newly approved voice model focuses on in-car interactions. By integrating generative AI, Tesla aims to move beyond basic voice commands, enabling stronger comprehension and multi-turn conversation abilities.
This isn't Tesla's first AI filing in China. Last November, Tesla's "xBot Customer Service" became one of the first foreign enterprise large model products approved for launch. It powers the Tesla App's customer service, understanding queries from owners and potential buyers and delivering accurate responses. From after-sales support to now being embedded in the cockpit's core interactions, Tesla's AI strategy shows a clear shift from service to product layers.

Compliance and Industry Standards
As it advances its technology, Tesla adheres strictly to local regulations. Under current rules, launched generative AI apps must prominently display the model name and filing number. Additionally, synthetic content must be clearly labeled following the "AI-Generated Content Identification Method" to ensure transparency and security.
With foreign automakers like Volvo and Tesla securing model filings, competition in China's smart car market is accelerating toward "AI-defined vehicles." For Tesla owners, a more intuitive, human-like cockpit experience is on the horizon.
