Tencent Marvis Officially Launches as System-Level AI Assistant with Six Intelligent Agents, Available 24/7
On May 21, Tencent officially launched an operating system-level AI assistant called "Marvis." Developed by Tencent's App Store team, it is now available on Windows, Mac, and Android. Users can download and use it directly without needing an invitation code.
1. Core Positioning: Your Computer's "Conversational Partner"
Marvis goes beyond a simple chatbot by integrating terminal systems, files, applications, computing power, and cross-device connectivity. Its goal is to turn the computer into something users can directly converse with. Using natural language commands, users can instruct the AI to handle tasks like organizing files, processing content, adjusting system settings (e.g., one-click ad blocking, changing theme colors), and enabling cross-device collaboration.
2. Architecture Design: Six AI "Workers" Collaborating in Parallel
Marvis features an internal team of six AI agents, led by a "Main Agent" that dynamically assigns specialized agents based on the task type:
Specialized Tasks: These cover capabilities including File (file management), Computer (system operations), App (application control), Browser (browser interaction), and Search.
Proactive Services: Unlike passive dialog boxes, Marvis emphasizes proactive services. It can execute scheduled tasks at predetermined times, enabling full-process control over the computer.
3. Privacy and Security: On-Device Models and "Hard Inquiries"
To address privacy concerns, Marvis offers two modes:
Privacy Mode: This mode uses on-device large models, processing all data recognition and analysis locally without sending data to the cloud. It works even offline, making it suitable for sensitive scenarios like finance and legal affairs.
Security Backup: For high-risk operations like financial transactions, core configuration changes, or bulk file deletions, the system includes an L2-level "Hard Inquiry" mechanism that requires user confirmation, preventing the AI from acting autonomously.
4. Industry-Leading Cross-Device Capabilities
Thanks to the App Store team's extensive experience in cross-device operation technology, Marvis achieves dual optimization at both the chip and operating system levels:
Hardware Collaboration: Deeply integrated with the Intel AIPC architecture, it significantly boosts inference speed using on-device acceleration technology.
Cross-Device Control: It allows users to directly control mobile apps from their computer, enabling seamless file transfer and flow between mobile devices and PCs.
5. Business Strategy
At launch, Tencent offers each user a free daily quota of 10 million tokens. In the future, Marvis plans to continuously improve on-device models, handling more operations locally to further reduce cloud computing costs, and gradually explore commercialization through basic quotas and API key access support models.
The release of Marvis signals Tencent's expansion into a full-scenario AI layout, extending from the office layer (WorkBuddy) down to the operating system level.
