SoftBank Launches SB Neo in U.S. to Compete in AI Cloud Market

SoftBank joins the AI computing power arena with a 10-gigawatt U.S. cloud service. On July 2, 2026, SoftBank Group announced the formation of SB Neo Inc. (provisional name), a joint venture established this month to address surging AI infrastructure demand from global tech leaders. The new entity will be 51% owned by SoftBank Corporation and 49% by SoftBank Group.
Leveraging SoftBank Group’s existing 10-gigawatt energy and AI infrastructure, SB Neo aims to launch its cloud service by the end of fiscal 2027. The platform targets large U.S. enterprises, delivering high-performance computing resources essential for training and running large-scale AI models.
Addressing the widening U.S. computing power gap, SB Neo has outlined a strategic expansion plan to deploy an additional 10 gigawatts of AI infrastructure. Industry insiders estimate this initiative could triple or quadruple SoftBank’s annual operating profit, reaching 3 to 4 trillion yen (approximately $18.5 to $25 billion).
