As the tech industry focuses on AI agents, several companies are developing tools that allow these agents to handle payments and trade stocks for users.
Robinhood, the stock trading app, is also heading this way. On Wednesday, the company announced support for AI agentic trading and a new agentic credit card.
According to Robinhood, users can now set up a separate account for their AI agents and link it to a dedicated wallet. While these agents can read and analyze portfolios to generate trading strategies and suggest investments, they can only use the pre-loaded funds in that wallet to place orders.

Users receive notifications for every trade made by their AI agent and can monitor all activity within the Robinhood app. For certain trades, agents display a preview that users may need to approve before the order goes through. Robinhood also includes fraud detection protections, where its team reviews suspicious trades and helps resolve disputes.
Robinhood says users can connect their AI agents to its Model Context Protocol (MCP) service to analyze concentration risk and sector exposure, execute trades, or review analyst notes for new investment opportunities across sectors.
The agentic trading feature launches in beta, currently supporting only stock trading. Robinhood plans to add options, crypto, event contracts, futures, and prediction markets soon.
Robinhood is also introducing a virtual credit card designed for AI agents. Users can connect their agents to Robinhood’s banking MCP server to enable payments through this card.
The virtual card is currently exclusive to Robinhood Gold Card holders, who can link their accounts to it.
Users can set monthly spending limits on the virtual card and decide whether their AI agent needs approval for each payment. Robinhood says its Platinum Card will also support a similar virtual agentic card feature when it launches later this year.
Robinhood has stepped up its AI initiatives over the past few years. It acquired AI research platform Pluto in 2024 and launched an AI assistant last year that provides investment advice.
“We’ve heard strong demand from customers wanting to bring their own tools, LLMs, and agents and connect them to Robinhood. That’s why we’re launching these new products,” Abhishek Fatehpuria, VP of Product at Robinhood, told TechCrunch in a call.
Robinhood isn’t the only company enabling AI agents to make payments. Major players like Stripe, Amazon, Google, and newer startups like Prava Pay are also building products that let AI agents purchase items on behalf of users.
