Report: NVIDIA Set to Invest $3 Billion in SB Energy to Strengthen OpenAI’s Data Center Infrastructure

Recently, NVIDIA, the leading global provider of AI chips, has stepped up efforts to develop its extensive AI infrastructure. Reports indicate that the company is in advanced talks with SB Energy, a clean energy firm backed by SoftBank Group, with plans to allocate up to $3 billion for this initiative.
This significant investment is not an isolated move but rather a key element of NVIDIA’s involvement in the OpenAI data center project. While driving adoption of its state-of-the-art hardware, NVIDIA also leverages its substantial financial resources to support key players and major initiatives across the AI industry ecosystem.
In addition to discussions with SB Energy, there are indications that NVIDIA intends to offer around $10 billion in financing support for a data center complex situated in Ohio. Although earlier market rumors suggested it might provide as much as $25 billion in guarantees for the OpenAI data center, the most recent figures show a reduced amount, though the total funding remains extraordinarily large.
Through such capital maneuvers and substantial investments, NVIDIA not only reinforces its undisputed leadership in AI computing capabilities but also strengthens the connections between chips, data centers, and energy supply through financial ties, thereby accelerating the development and improvement of global AI infrastructure.
