OpenRouter Secures $113M Series B, Valuation Hits $1.3B

OpenRouter has secured a $113 million Series B funding round led by CapitalG, Alphabet's growth venture fund. According to The New York Times, its post-money valuation now stands at roughly $1.3 billion. Founded in 2023, this AI gateway platform has doubled its valuation within a year. When it closed a $40 million Series A round in June 2025, backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Menlo Ventures, and Sequoia, PitchBook valued it at just $547 million post-money.
OpenRouter's valuation surge directly reflects the industry's shift from model training to inference and intelligent agents. As an aggregation platform, it now provides access to over 400 AI models from providers like Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, xAI, and DeepSeek. Enterprises use it to seamlessly switch between models in multi-model setups, cutting costs and boosting inference accuracy. The platform serves 8 million users globally, processing up to 100 trillion tokens per month (about 25 trillion per week) — five times the 5 trillion tokens processed weekly six months ago.
This market performance indicates that AI models are increasingly becoming invisible, interchangeable engines for multi-task processing. Enterprises are clearly trending toward decentralization, moving away from traditional SaaS-style lock-in with a single vendor. The era of multiple models coexisting with seamless orchestration has fully arrived.
