OpenAI Updates ChatGPT Mobile App With Long Press to Control Reasoning Intensity

To make everyday conversations feel more natural and efficient, OpenAI recently introduced targeted upgrades to ChatGPT's mobile and web versions. The mobile app now includes a subtle gesture interaction that gives users more control over the model's processing power.
Flexible Control Over Intelligence Levels
After entering a prompt in the updated mobile app, users can long-press the send arrow to reveal a new intelligence level selector. This feature offers different response settings, letting users choose the model's reasoning depth based on task complexity before sending a message.
Current options include quick response, deep thinking, and extended reasoning. For simple everyday questions, quick response delivers instant answers; for complex coding, data analysis, or solution design, higher reasoning modes provide more accurate support.
Web Version Gets a Synchronous Experience Boost
Alongside the mobile updates, the web version of ChatGPT now includes a long conversation directory. When a single conversation reaches five or more back-and-forth replies, the sidebar automatically expands to show a set of topic markers, helping users navigate lengthy discussions with multiple tasks quickly.
Meanwhile, the latest default model used for most daily conversations has also undergone further optimization in its answer style and quality. OpenAI stated that the new model will significantly reduce overly long or bullet-point-heavy mechanical responses, aiming to make the AI's language rhythm closer to natural human expression.
