OpenAI Unveils ChatGPT Health Integration with Apple Health and EMRs, Serving 300M Weekly Users
OpenAI has officially eliminated the waitlist for ChatGPT Health, making it accessible to all U.S. users aged 18 and older. Individuals on any subscription tier—including Free, Go, Plus, and Pro—can now access the health features directly via the ChatGPT sidebar on both web and iOS platforms.
According to OpenAI, weekly health-related queries on ChatGPT have surged from an initial 230 million to over 300 million.

By integrating Apple Health and Electronic Medical Records, AI Gains a Comprehensive View of Your Body
Following months of testing and user feedback, ChatGPT Health has undergone significant enhancements. The system now supports integration with Apple Health and electronic medical records from One Medical, Function Health, and various U.S. hospital networks. Once authorized, ChatGPT analyzes data including medication history, lab results, medical records, sleep patterns, and daily exercise to deliver personalized health insights.
For instance, users can ask ChatGPT to compare recent lab results with historical data, summarize health trends since their last visit, or evaluate how sleep and exercise affect their daily well-being.
Beyond the dedicated health section, users can explicitly introduce health context by typing "@Health" in regular conversations. Alternatively, they can authorize ChatGPT to automatically reference health background when answering questions—such as considering dietary restrictions when suggesting meals or avoiding areas affected by recent injuries during workout planning.
The system always requests user permission before accessing health data, offering options for single-time or permanent authorization. Addressing privacy concerns, OpenAI confirms that all accessed medical records, Apple Health data, and related conversation content will not be used for training large language models or for advertising purposes.
