New Doubao Work Task Function Enables Remote Desktop Control via Smartphone, Eliminating Device Limitations for Seamless Cross-Device Workflow
Recently, ByteDance’s intelligent assistant Doubao introduced a significant update to its “Work Tasks” mode, officially launching its phone-based remote computer control feature. Users only need to complete a simple authorization process within the Doubao app on their smartphones, after which they can take control of the computer logged in with the same account at any time to manage desktop tasks. This capability eliminates device limitations in office settings and offers a more flexible solution for mobile work.
According to the official details, this function allows users to access file contents directly from their local computer system. It enables efficient handling of documents, images, code, tables, and various other file types, facilitating complex computing tasks. Its practicality has been proven in numerous common office scenarios: for instance, if a user is away from home and realizes a file on their computer hasn’t been sent, they can use their phone to locate local files, convert formats such as Pages to PDF, and transfer the files back to their device. Similarly, when receiving feedback on edits but not having access to the computer nearby, users can remotely instruct the computer to generate summaries or charts and send those results to their phone. It also supports connecting multiple computers from a single phone, facilitating cross-device collaboration and enabling unified file transfers between different machines and the phone.
The setup process has been greatly simplified as well. Users only need to update Doubao to the latest version, log in using the same account as their computer, select the “Work Tasks” mode, choose the desired operating environment under “Cloud Computer,” receive an SMS verification code to finalize authorization, and then they can quickly connect to the device and begin using it.
Industry analysts believe this feature directly addresses the challenge faced by professionals who need to urgently complete work tasks without immediate access to their computers. By further enhancing the cross-terminal collaboration capabilities of intelligent assistants, it is expected to establish itself as a new standard in mobile office environments.
