MiniMax Secures Massive New Funding Round, Attracting Strong Investor Interest
MiniMax, a leading Chinese AI startup recognized as a unicorn company, announced today that it has successfully closed a new funding round worth 16 billion HKD, which is equivalent to over 2 billion USD. This significant capital injection will help replenish the company’s financial resources, enabling it to advance its efforts in building cutting-edge AI infrastructure, conducting research on advanced models, and expanding its operations globally.

This financing round, which has drawn intense attention as one of the most closely monitored deals in the global AI industry, received overwhelming enthusiasm from international investors. The company’s initial fundraising goal was around 1.8 billion USD, but rising demand from overseas investors led to an increase in that target to more than 2 billion USD. As a result, the deal attracted participation from over 100 investment firms, resulting in a 7-fold oversubscription rate.
The pool of investors involved in this transaction is highly diverse and strong, spanning three major regions: Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the United States. Key participants include several top international sovereign wealth funds, long-term investment vehicles, prominent Chinese institutional investors, and leading multi-strategy funds. In particular, more than 20 long-term and sovereign wealth funds took part in the round. It’s also worth noting that several of MiniMax’s original Pre-IPO and cornerstone investors decided to stay invested and increase their holdings, demonstrating their confidence in the company’s long-term growth potential and technological capabilities through concrete financial commitments.
