Microsoft Edge Deeply Integrates Copilot, AI-Native Features Redefine Browsing
Microsoft has announced a major update for Edge, deeply integrating Copilot AI to turn the browser from a simple information retrieval tool into a proactive personal AI assistant. A key feature: Copilot now has access to all open tabs, enabling users to compare content across pages, summarize articles, and analyze product specs. Microsoft stresses that users have full control — they can enable or disable data collection at any time.
On the functional side, Microsoft has phased out the original Copilot mode and merged its agent capabilities (like purchasing and booking) into the new "Browse with Copilot" tool.

For education and creativity, Edge introduces an AI-powered "Learning" mode that turns static web pages into interactive courses or quizzes in real time. It also adds a podcast generator similar to NotebookLM, converting tab content into audio streams. Plus, an AI writing assistant, a cross-platform (desktop and mobile) "long-term memory" feature, and "Journey" auto-classification based on browsing history together create a complete AI experience spanning search, navigation, and creation.
