Meta’s Super Intelligence Lab Unveils Muse Image: Free Instagram and WhatsApp Generation via Conversation
Meta has officially unveiled Muse Image, its latest AI image generation model developed by the Super Intelligence Lab. Now accessible for free via the Meta AI app, Instagram, and WhatsApp, this tool allows users to create high-quality visuals simply by describing their requests in natural language, significantly lowering the technical barrier to entry.

Beyond basic image creation, Muse Image can remove subjects, render text, and redesign interior spaces.
Muse Image offers capabilities that extend well beyond standard text-to-image generation. It can simulate photos of users at historical landmarks, seamlessly remove unwanted background figures, and even generate functional QR codes from custom prompts. Additionally, the model accurately renders text within images, enabling users to create clear operational guides or topic-specific infographics.
To simplify the user experience, Meta AI features a preset prompt panel with one-click tools for repairing old photos, previewing popular hairstyles, or transforming selfies into claymation characters and 16-bit game heroes. Users can also use Meta AI to redesign rooms using real products from Facebook Marketplace, visualizing different styles instantly—effectively acting as an AI-powered interior designer.
Muse Spark manages background scheduling, offering 30 effects for Instagram Stories.
During creation, Muse Image collaborates with Muse Spark to handle multi-step background planning, including layout adjustments, real-time web searches, and the intelligent merging of multiple visual references. Users can reference public photos from Instagram accounts within the Meta AI app, with the option to disable this feature at any time. For further adjustments, clicking the tag icon enables direct drawing, sketching, or annotation editing on the image. The AI retains the full conversation context, allowing users to easily refine styles or add and remove elements.
Alongside image generation, Muse Image supports over 30 AI effects for Instagram Stories, including customizable filters. The feature for generating images through direct conversations on WhatsApp is currently available in select regions. Basic usage is free, though exceeding the quota requires a paid Meta subscription. Future updates will expand access to Facebook and Messenger, while advertisers can leverage the model via Advantage+ creative. Meta also announced that Muse Video, a new video generation model, is in development, establishing a dual-track strategy for both image and video AI.
