JD.com Express has unveiled its AI Smart Helmet, set for gradual deployment starting with full-time delivery riders before expanding to the entire workforce. This innovative device combines AI voice assistance, intelligent route optimization, merchant environment verification, and order note alerts to boost delivery efficiency, enhance rider safety, and elevate customer service.
Official details reveal that the helmet enables hands-free voice interaction, allowing riders to accept orders and contact customers without handling their phones—a crucial feature for maintaining safety during adverse weather. Additionally, the "Single King Route" feature digitizes the navigation expertise of veteran riders, using voice-guided directions to help users navigate complex residential areas and hidden buildings. This reduces the likelihood of getting lost or taking inefficient detours, ensuring faster delivery times.
Moreover, the device introduces a "Merchant Environment Verification" tool. When picking up orders, riders can use AI to inspect store conditions; any irregularities are automatically flagged.
