Intense Competition in the AI Field as Anthropic Secures $10 Billion Deal with Cloud Tech Firm Volta

The ongoing competition to boost computing power in the field of large AI models has seen another significant round of investment. Reports indicate that the prominent AI startup Anthropic has entered into a substantial $10 billion partnership with cloud computing company Volta, aimed at meeting the computational demands of its Claude model over the coming years. According to insiders familiar with the situation, Volta, headquartered in Norway, will offer ongoing cloud computing services to Anthropic for a period of six years. As part of this collaboration, cryptocurrency mining firm Bitdeer will also contribute by helping build the dedicated computing power data center. Located in Norway, this facility is scheduled to have a capacity of 133 megawatts and will be equipped entirely with NVIDIA’s latest Vera Rubin architecture chips. With Volta being part of NVIDIA’s cloud partner program, this move reflects a close integration of top-tier AI computing resources. Under the pressure of intensifying competition, Anthropic is accelerating its efforts to expand its global computing infrastructure. Prior to concluding this billion-dollar deal with Volta, the company had already signed several similar agreements with tech giants such as SpaceX and Amazon. Industry analysts suggest that these coordinated actions underscore the strong commitment and urgency among leading players in the large model space to establish dominance in the next generation of AI computing systems.
