Insta360 is fast-tracking AI integration into its hardware lineup, with a primary focus on introducing an AI voice assistant. Reports indicate this feature will debut on the Go Ultra pocket camera, with regional variations: Google Gemini serves Hong Kong, Macau, and international markets, while Alibaba’s Qwen model powers the mainland China version. Users can hear translated responses directly through the device’s built-in speaker.
This initiative combines Insta360’s proprietary development with partnerships with major tech firms. Sources reveal that Insta360 handles core AI voice assistant development, leveraging Alibaba Qwen’s multimodal capabilities. The system operates with a clear division of labor: voiceprint recognition and intent analysis occur on the device, while complex tasks like Q&A, mode switching, and translation are processed in the cloud. The project is internally known as “Kira.”
The Insta360 GO Ultra pocket camera launched last August with a standard price of 2598 yuan. On July 31, the company announced a significant firmware update scheduled for August 5. Promotional materials suggest that the “voice assistant Kira” will be the standout feature of this upcoming release.
