Huizhou Releases First 38 AI Scenario Demand Lists: Robots, Driverless Vehicles, Brain-Computer Interfaces
AI is no longer a privilege reserved for big cities.
On May 13, the Huizhou municipal government held a press conference to unveil its first list of AI application scenarios — 38 scenarios across six sectors: scientific research, agriculture, manufacturing, services, urban governance, and people's livelihood. It also issued a global call for AI problem solvers.
The list features ten key projects. A closer look reveals that Huizhou is using AI to tackle real-world challenges:
High-Risk Tasks: The Dongjiang Laboratory plans to deploy embodied intelligent robots in extreme environments, replacing human workers for high-risk precision maintenance and eliminating the need for people to work in dangerous conditions.Fishery Management: Huiyang Agricultural Investment Group will equip fisheries with an AI-driven "brain," moving away from traditional experience-based feeding methods while also reducing safety risks during manual inspections.Factory Efficiency: Yinhede Technology plans to build a proprietary vertical large language model, targeting a 30% boost in R&D efficiency, a defect detection rate exceeding 98%, and a 50% reduction in new employee training time.Autonomous Bus: Huiyang Jiaotou Bus will achieve fully autonomous driving and precise parking along the "West Lake Intelligent Travel Loop."Cold Chain Logistics: Haijixing Agricultural Products Logistics Park has deployed autonomous vehicles for smart delivery, featuring fully automated loading and unloading. This is expected to reduce logistics costs by 25% to 30%.Government Approval: The Market Supervision Bureau will launch a smart approval platform that allows companies to use "intelligent declaration + ultra-fast approval." On the regulatory front, big data will enable remote management without the need for on-site inspections.Flood Warning: The Water Resources Bureau plans to develop an intelligent flood forecasting system capable of second-level disaster calculations and extending the forecast horizon to 48 hours.Disability Rehabilitation: The Civil Affairs Bureau plans to introduce brain-computer interface-driven smart prosthetics, enabling people with disabilities to restore limb function and secure stable employment.At the press conference, the city went further. The Huizhou municipal government signed strategic cooperation framework agreements with 11 companies, including Huawei, Tencent Cloud, and Guangdong Mobile. It also officially established the Huizhou Artificial Intelligence Development Co., Ltd., tasked with driving the AI and robotics industry chain. The Guotou Fund also finalized its signing, targeting key areas such as AI foundational software and hardware, core components, smart terminals, and industry applications.
From fish farms to factories, from roads to government service centers, Huizhou's deployment spans a wide spectrum. This list functions as an open "problem sheet" — the scenarios are laid out, and the city is seeking solutions from around the world. Those who can solve the problems are welcome to come.
