On Wednesday, Google introduced a redesigned Trends Explore page, now enhanced with Gemini-powered features that automatically detect and compare trends associated with your search queries. The update is currently being released for desktop users.
The Trends Explore page has consistently been a useful resource for content creators, journalists, and researchers, enabling them to examine search interest for any topic across different time periods, geographic areas, and categories. The new Gemini integration simplifies much of the manual effort required to investigate trending subjects, saving research time and revealing connections that might otherwise go unnoticed.
The updated Explore page now includes a side panel that automatically detects and compares relevant trends within your field of interest. Users will also see a selection of suggested Gemini prompts to assist with more in-depth analysis.

Google has also increased the number of terms users can compare and doubled the quantity of rising queries shown on each timeline.
A Google blog post uses the example of trending dog breeds to demonstrate the new functionality. The AI automatically fills the graph with up to eight search terms, including "golden retriever" or "beagle." It also recommends related subjects like "hypoallergenic dog breeds" or "large dog breeds" for further investigation. Users can hover over a term to modify it or apply filters by country, time, and property to tailor the Trends timeline.
This enhancement is part of Google's continuous initiative to integrate Gemini into its primary services. The company has already incorporated AI features into Search, Gmail, Maps, and Docs.
