On Thursday, Google unveiled two new enhancements to Audio Overviews: Guide the Conversation and Background Listening. These additions are designed to make the podcast creation process within NotebookLM smoother and more interactive.
Guide the Conversation
With Guide the Conversation, you can now steer your Audio Overviews in a specific direction before they generate a detailed "Deep Dive" podcast. This feature allows you to pinpoint exactly what you want the podcast to cover, whether it's focusing on certain topics from your uploaded materials or adjusting the level of expertise in the conversation.
This could be a game-changer if you're dealing with a hefty file of class notes but need to zero in on a particular section for a quiz or assignment. It's also perfect for simplifying complex topics into more digestible content.

With the new Background Listening feature, you can now listen to your Audio Overviews while continuing to work within NotebookLM, making multitasking a breeze.

Interested organizations can apply for the NotebookLM Business pilot program, which offers early access to product features, training, and email support.
That's really cool. The thought of transforming text into a smooth-sounding podcast is mind-blowing. Imagine using this for creating content without recording your own voice. 😱 I'm low-key wondering about the customization, though – can you make the AI sound different, like more energetic for a fitness blog, or super chill for a meditation guide?
This AI podcast tool is wild! I tried it with some random notes, and it sounds like two pros chatting on a real show. The new customization features are a game-changer—now I can steer the convo to exactly what I want. Google’s killing it, but I wonder if this’ll make human podcasters sweat a bit! 😅
