Google Updates Mobile AI App with First-Ever Support for Searching Chat History and Uploading Files
Google has rolled out major updates to its mobile AI apps on Android and iOS, bringing a desktop-exclusive feature to smartphones: the ability to search past chat history.
The new "Search Conversations" tool appears at the top of the side navigation bar. Users can tap the pill-shaped search box to find past chats by keyword in a full-screen view. A settings gear next to the bar links directly to "My Activity." This update eliminates the frustration of scrolling endlessly through the side menu, making it much easier to retrieve old records.

The iOS client has also been updated to match the design changes announced at Google's May I/O Developer Conference. The input box is now a rounded rectangle floating above the screen, and the "+" menu allows direct file uploads from your phone. These changes streamline document workflows for mobile office tasks.
While the visual redesign and file upload shortcut are still rolling out to Android users, they are now available on iOS. In the competitive generative AI market, Google's move to bring these high-frequency features to mobile devices improves daily workflows and shifts AI assistants from "single-point tools" to "long-term productivity platforms."
