Google Unveils NotebookLM With Gemini 3.5 Flash Upgrades, Standalone Cloud Computer and AI Agent
On June 10, 2026, Google unveiled a significant enhancement to its AI research and knowledge management platform, NotebookLM . This latest iteration is now powered by the Gemini 3.5 Flash model and seamlessly integrates Google’s proprietary coding utility, Antigravity.
At the heart of this update is the allocation of a dedicated cloud computer for every user notebook. This infrastructure allows the platform to not only generate and execute code in real time but also deploy deep research capabilities driven by AI agents. These features are designed to support intricate academic and engineering workflows. Internal benchmarks indicate that this new Agent architecture surpasses the previous version in roughly 65% of tested scenarios.

Expanding its functional scope, NotebookLM now features a "Zero-source" search mode. This tool dynamically queries authoritative web resources via Google Search and automatically generates citations. Furthermore, the export options for research outputs have been broadened, allowing users to instantly convert analysis reports into PDFs, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and high-quality image files with professional charts. This comprehensive update is currently accessible to global Google AI Ultra subscribers and Workspace enterprise users with AI Ultra and AI Expanded permissions.
As a pioneering product in Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), NotebookLM 's shift toward "AI agentization" and "dynamic computing" highlights a broader industry trend: AI productivity tools are evolving from basic text summarizers into end-to-end research assistants with autonomous execution capabilities. By merging code execution environments with live internet search, Google is raising the technical bar for deep research built on specialized knowledge bases.
