Google Unveils Dreambeans, Its Most Eccentric AI Tool Yet, to Transform Your Life Into a Cartoon
Google Labs, the division responsible for experimental product design, has released a new AI-powered application for iOS and Android that brings your daily life to life.
Introducing Dreambeans. The reasoning behind the name will be explained shortly.
What exactly is this tool?
Gozde Oznur, the product lead for the application, explained to TechCrunch that the concept involves aggregating data from your various Google services to create a personalized collection of AI-generated “stories.” While these stories vary in format, they primarily function as lifestyle recommendations. Oznur describes them as “destinations to visit, subjects to explore, activities to try, upcoming trips, and events worth noting.”
Dreambeans derives these suggestions from your Google data. “With your permission, Dreambeans utilizes Personal Intelligence to synthesize information from Google apps such as Gmail, Calendar, Photos, YouTube, and Search History, curating a limited set of daily stories designed to inspire new ideas,” the company states.
For example, some stories might offer geographical recommendations, such as suggesting a new coffee shop near your residence that aligns with your interests. In the case of the marketing video, if you have added a new dog to your Google Calendar, Dreambeans might provide insights on living with a puppy. Other stories may simply consist of web articles curated based on your past interests.

Oznur noted that the app is designed as an antidote to doomscrolling by limiting users to a specific number of stories per day—typically between 10 and 14. The goal is to provide a few inspirational ideas so users can go out and live their lives, she explained. Many companies are currently targeting users seeking relief from phone addiction. I recently reviewed a startup called Bond, which also uses AI to automatically generate lifestyle suggestions.
How does the app handle privacy?
According to Oznur, the privacy measures are robust. She stated that only the user has access to the app’s stories. Users can delete their data at any time and choose which Google services to connect to the tool.
Finally, what is the origin of the name “Dreambeans”?
Oznur explained that the name was partly inspired by how the system operates while you sleep.
“The ‘dream’ aspect is literal, as the app processes data from your connected apps overnight, distilling a large amount of information,” Oznur said. “The ‘beans’ part refers to starting your day with a freshly brewed cup of coffee. It has processed everything overnight and delivers a concentrated drop of inspiration in the morning.”
Dreambeans is currently available only to eligible U.S.-based Google AI Ultra subscribers on Android and iOS. However, a waitlist is also open for users with a personal Google account.
